Mr. Robertson has been actively involved with public
endeavours and with private businesses, both as principal and advisor, for
three decades.Amongst assignments he has
directed are:
- Facilitator to a community advisory committee,
formed by twenty-five community representatives and by Tilbury Cement
Ltd. to comment on various proposals for the use of alternate fuels at
the Tilbury Cement Plant in Delta BC. During the two year of activity,
he acted as facilitator to the committee. The project evolved from one
where the community was up in arms to one where there was general
agreement that the proposals were valid and not controversial. The
cement plant is the largest on the West Coast north of San Francisco.

Manage the relocation from
Pennsylvania to BC of a world class biotechnology research and
development firm, financed with a $20m private funding. Amongst his
tasks was the direction of contractors to build a $1m lab for the firm.
This project was probably the most complicated move of a research lab in
western Canada ever.

Assist in the start up of several
entrepreneurial biotechnology and engineering technology firms within
the past decade, each of which is based upon world class technology.

Design and conduct seminars and
management development programs for a variety of clients in retailing,
manufacturing, government services, and guest lecturer at Faculty of
Commerce at UBC
-
Manage employee surveys for several
West Coast firms, involving extensive analysis of attitudes and
motivation, which resulted in planned fundamental changes in human
resource strategies.

Assist in the development of
'corporate strategy' for a provincial crown corporation to more closely
align its efforts to the needs of the marketplace.

successor to antibiotics)
Mr. Robertson has as acted as a business advisor to
a dozen small high-tech west coast firms, and is currently the business
manager for two firms. With these and other organizations, he has prepared
and reviewed dozens of business plans involving varying levels of
technical and other matters. Mr. Robertson has also been involved as
founder or co-founder of several new private and public organizations in
Western Canada.
For the past three decades, Mr. Robertson has been
involved with consulting and teaching in the area of project management.
In the 60’s he lead the Canadian Army – Canadian Forces School of
Management instructional and consulting unit for CPM and PERT. Later he
developed and conducted courses for the Public Service of Canada and for
the Banff Centre for Management Studies. He has been a consultant on
project management to many organizations on projects ranging from small to
gigantic.
Mr. Robertson has been very active in community
activities, and was awarded the Canada 125 Medal for his contribution to
community groups. Amongst his activities have been:
- with the Anglican Church, Warden at local church,
member of Synods (local & provincial), chairman of a provincial standing
committee, member of regional strategy committee, chair of regional
planned giving committee, and member of various ad hoc committees and
task forces
- with the Vancouver School of Theology, as Chair
of the Board of Governors, and previously member of St Andrew's Hall
board, chair of the Property Redevelopment Task Force, Development, Long
Range Planning and Budget Planning committees, and member the Finance,
and Audit committees,
- with the Municipality of Delta, as chair of the
Council's Community Services Advisory Committee, chair of the Liquor
Advisory Committee, Vice chair of the Tsawwassen Area Planning
Committee, and chair of the TAPC Alumni,
- with the Independent Delta Electors Association
("IDEA"), a municipal grass roots political organization as a director,
and as its co-Chair during the last municipal election,
- with the Ivey Alumni Association of British
Columbia, as its President for 6 years, and subsequently member of the
Advisory Council for a further 10 years,
- with the Delta Community Living Society (mentally
handicapped adults) as Treasurer, member of the Board, executive, audit,
nominating and finance committees.
A graduate of McGill University (B.Eng.) and the
Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario (MBA), a
Professional Engineer (Ontario), he is married and resides in Delta, B.C.
